Improvements in maths and English will please employers

Commenting on today's GCSE results, Chris Hannant, Head of Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

"We're pleased to see an increase in students achieving top marks. Improvements in maths and English will go some way to easing business concerns that too many young people lack the required literacy and numeracy skills for a future in work.

"Questions still remain about grade inflation and "dumbing down" but overall there seems to be a reinvigorated drive for quality."
