OVER HALF OF SMALL BUSINESSES READY TO LEAVE ROYAL MAIL FOR GOOD

The figure reflects the anger felt by small businesses at the impact the postal strike has had on them, as they have been forced to meet the costs of the strike. The survey shows:
- 62% of small businesses have been sending and settling invoices through alternatives to Royal Mail during the strike
- 88 % have seen a significant impact on their business from the mail strike, including cash flow problems, loss of sales, and less investment through meeting the costs of the strike.
BCC Head of Policy Natalie Evans said:
“This result really hammers home the damage that this dispute has done to Royal Mail. Small businesses rely on a decent post service and have been let down badly over the past few weeks. It will not be easy for Royal Mail to regain their confidence. The only way it will win back lost business is through pushing ahead with its modernisation, providing the efficient, value for money and reliable service that firms demand.”
