Broaden your horizons - New ITOPS export qualification
The International Trade Operations and Procedures Qualification (ITOPS) has been established to train export administrators to attain the JETS (Joint Export Training Standards) accredited ITOPS qualification which is both practical and achievable within a short time frame.
Covering the five main elements of operations in both import and export – administration, preparation of documentation, arranging despatch or delivery of goods, finance and customs and legal procedures – the training has been used to good effect by many companies trading internationally to ease the burden for staff working in export procedures.
And as an added benefit the course counts as exemption against the module International Transport and Documentation of the Institute of Export's Certificate in International Trade.
Alliance Shipping is also offering a prize to the best student on each course of a bottle of champagne, with an overall prize for the best student of the year of the use of a luxury apartment in Spain for a week.
This practical course takes place over four days with workshops held fortnightly and assessments carried out one month after the last workshop. Expertise is developed very quickly through the intensive training given alongside practical field trips to ships and airports. ITOPS candidates can access the exercises with support from representatives of Alliance Shipping, the course trainer Steve Townsley and Julie Whiting at Derbyshire Chamber.
The next course starts on 21 April 2005 in Chesterfield and costs £900 for members, £1100 for non members. Other venues include Stoke, Sheffield, Coventry and Northampton.
